Rules for Club competitions
The club shall hold a number of competitions throughout the year.
Rules may well vary depending on the type of competition being fished.
All members must abide by the match rules at all times.
All Winter League matches are for members only. They are free to enter with
an optional pool of £5.
All other matches are open to non members. This year they will normally be £5
to enter.
Money payout will be 50% 30% and 20% of the pool.
Match dates and times are likely to change at short notice due to bad weather
forecasts. Updates will be posted on the website and news groups
For All competitions
 | Only fish hooked between the match start and finish times will be eligible
for weighing. Match times apply equally to both Beach launched and Dock
based boats. |
 | Entry to club matches is free (except for Open matches), however if a
competitor has committed to entering the optional pools, he must pay whether
he attends the weigh-in or not. |
 | A maximum of two rods to be fished with at any one time. |
 | A maximum of 3 hooks per rod, a pennel rig will count as two hooks, a
treble will count as one hook. |
 | All types of baits, feathers, and lures may be used, unless specifically
banned by the match organisers. |
 | All fish must be caught by rod and line; No Hand lines, long lines or
Anchor packs to be used. |
 | No wreck fishing, unless specifically allowed by the match organisers. |
 | All fished entered for weighing must adhere to the local NFSA area minimum
size limits. |
 | Each person taking part will steward himself and all other members while
fishing. |
 | The prize payout will take place during the next available monthly
meeting. There will be occasional exceptions to this rule, during Open
matches for example. |
 | The club strongly recommends that boat skippers announce on the VHF
network that they are taking part and approximately what area they are
fishing in (for safety reasons). This announcement should be made as soon as
possible on channel 6. |
 | In the event of bad weather or in the interests of safety, organisers
shall have the right to abandon the match, at any time. |
 | In the event of a match being abandoned all fish caught after the match
start time will be eligible for weighing in. This is providing that the
match has been running for a minimum of one hour. |
 | Competitors are advised to monitor VHF Channel 6. |
 | Boat casting is permitted in Club competitions unless prohibited by the
Skipper, if boat casting is done, please ensure that it is done safely. |
 | All fish must be weighed in at a time set by the match organisers, this
will normally be 45 minutes after the match finishing time. There will be a
15-minute window for late entries. |
 | The bringing to the scales of undersize fish will result in that
angler’s disqualification. If requested, the Fish recorder will check an
angler’s fish, prior to the bringing of that fish to the scales. |
 | Any complaints must be submitted to the Fish recorder or Match organisers
within 15 minutes of the end of the weigh in time. |
 | The decision of the organisers will be final in the case of a dispute. |
 | All boats used in Club competitions shall be in a Seaworthy state and
shall be of adequate size for the number of anglers on board. |
 | All boats should have a designated skipper who will be responsible for the
safe operation of his craft and the safety of his crew. |
 | The Skipper must be fully aware of the particular requirements regarding
the use of small boats in the Humber, particularly in regard to the movement
of commercial shipping. For instance, no boat should anchor either in or
close enough to the shipping channels to cause the boat to drift into the
channels. |
 | |
Constitution
 | The club will be called the Humber Cruising Association Sea Angling Club. |
 | The club will promote and encourage Sea angling from boats, both beach
launched and moored in the Dock, for the benefit of its members. |
 | The club will affiliate itself to the NFSA. |
 | Membership of the club will be from April to April. |
 | The decision to allow membership of the club will be the responsibility of
the Club committee. |
 | The committee shall have the right to refuse admission to the club without
reason. |
 | The committee will set the annual membership fee. |
 | The officers of the committee shall consist of at least a Chairman, a
Treasurer, a Secretary and a Fish recorder, committee members shall be voted
on or off the committee, by the members every two years at the AGM. |
 | The committee can invite a member to join if an existing member has stood
down from office. This would be a temporary post until the next AGM
whereupon that member can be voted in by the membership as a whole. |
 | The AGM will be held annually in March, all members will be invited to
attend and will be informed at least 14 days before the date of the meeting. |
 | Motions for consideration at the AGM shall be submitted to the secretary
at least 7 days before the meeting, duly proposed and seconded. |
 | The Treasurer shall receive all funds and distribute them as directed by
the committee. He should also prepare a balance sheet for audit, to be
presented at the AGM. |
 | Alteration to the constitution can only be made at the AGM or at an EGM
with the approval of two thirds of the members present. |
 | An EGM shall be convened at any time by the Secretary, on a written
request signed by at least half of the membership. The request shall also
state the nature of the business to be discussed. The secretary shall then
arrange a meeting within 28 days |
 | Meetings of the club will normally be held on the last Wednesday of every
month at 7.30pm (presently at the HCA clubhouse, Aukland Rd). |
 | The Club must be self-financing. In the event of the winding up of the
club, all profits or losses will be shared equally amongst all the members. |
 | The Club or its officers will not be held responsible for the actions of
any member. |
 | Each member of the club shall abide by all local byelaws and all Club
rules, failure to do so, may result in suspension or removal from the club,
at the committee’s discretion. |
 | Similarly, should any member bring the club into disrepute, the committee
reserve the right to terminate membership or refuse a member the right to
join the following year. |
All third party insurance, boat insurance and personal injury insurance,
shall be the sole responsibility of each club member.
